We Have A One Year Old!

We started off Trey's first birthday by heading over to our good family friend's house, Cindy and Lori.  Trey and I visit with them every Wednesday and Trey enjoys his time with them.  Well he enjoyed his birthday time with them as well.  We walked in to tons of presents and lots of balloons!

Unfortunately before opening presents, I gave Trey a wrapped chocolate marshmallow to smush (he likes to do that).  So most of this attention while "opening" his gifts was diverted to his marshmallow.

He dropped the marshmallow for a noisemaker although he didn't quite get the concept.  He basically just chewed on the cardboard until it was mushing away and I had to take it from him.

Having fun slapping his birthday balloon around!

Since Trey was a tiny baby, Cindy has called him her little froggy because how he curled up his legs on you when being held. So she made sure that his birthday cake included a stuffed little frog which Trey was super into.

What you can't see in this next picture is that after Trey ran his hand through the very stain-worthy blue icing several times flinging and wiping it everywhere, he lovingly swatted Buckley on the side of the head … which resulted in a not so happy Buckley getting a little bath. Overall though we had a great time with Cindy and Lori!

Even though we weren't having a big birthday party for Trey, I still wanted him to have a theme.  So I went with mustaches and ties aka "little man".

Cupcakes and Birthday Cake!

Favor bags filled w/ "Hugs" and "Kisses" from the birthday boy!

The birthday boy :-)

And his happy papa.

The one nice thing about living back in Orange County is that we are close enough and lucky enough to be able to spend important days with family.  So big ups to Cory's rents, my brother and sister-in-law, and my mom (who came up all the way from NC!)

 More presents and more cake!

Big thanks to everyone who made Trey's first birthday so special!  All the birthday wishes and gifts were much appreciated !!

Trey's First Easter (Weekend)

Saturday was a pretty awesome day.  It started off with a dude coming to our house to run a water line to our new fridge!  This was followed by Neel & Suzi delivering our new patio table, setting it up, and joining us for lunch.   Then Cory's rents and Mark, Becky & Lucas came to our house to paint easter eggs (which never happened even though Cory made a dozen hard-boiled eggs and a painting kit was purchased).

This was the first visit that the boys remotely paid attention to each other which was cute.

The boys in deep conversation …

Trey is still not doing the best with solids but he does enjoy Blueberry Pomegranate Greek Yogurt bars.  So for a special treat, the boys each got a bar to enjoy.  Lucas didn't seem to love it the most, but he kept going back for more.

Trey's first birthday is coming up (crazy!) and Cindy and Lori bought him an awesome Radio Flyer wagon.  We brought the boys out for a ride.  Lucas was super into it.  Trey was ready to pass out (which he did about 3 minutes after this pic was taken).

We wrapped up the day with some time down at our beach.  Trey LOVES playing in the sand.  I can't wait until we have a warm day where we can play in the sand AND go into the water!

On Sunday we went to Jimmy & Barbara's for a little more Lucas time (and brunch)!  The boys were pretty indifferent about their baskets.  Hoping next year they show a little excitement!

Our next Easter stop was at Neel & Suzi's.  Trey was pretty tired so we took him around the farm to try and put a little pep in his step.  As you can see from the next few photos, he could give a crap (as usual) ….

Soon after our delicious meal (Thanks Suzi!), Trey really started enjoying his time (but of course I didn't take any pics). He used their chair to walk around the house, giggled at himself in the mirror, chased the cat around, etc. etc.  It was super cute.

Big thanks to everyone who made Trey's first Easter pretty freaking fantastic! xo xo

Trey Being Trey

Trey is OBSESSED with the dog's toys.  Even though Trey has toys galore in the living room, he gladly crawls over to the dogs toys to play.  He is particularly obsessed with Buckley's kong.  It is the one thing I try to keep out of his mouth because Buck eats his dog treats out of it every day.  Trey doesn't understand the concept of glass yet so he spent quite a bit of time trying to get to the kong from beneath our dining room table.

Today he opened up a drawer and found a ball of twine.  That seemed like something he needed to play with for quite some time.

He did start to slight panic when the twine got stuck on his ear lol.

Although not nearly as much as he freaked when I had the NERVE to put a bib on him.

Love my little man!

Baby Proofing Baby !

As Trey gets older we continue to have to childproof around the house. Today was the first time that Trey was old enough to have an interest in "helping".  He made sure that Cory correctly strapped the tv to the tv stand.  Then he made sure that the cabinet locks were being installed properly.  I think Cory really enjoyed all the help (or hated it hence why he kept saying "come get this baby" - but we will never know!)!

Snow - Sleet - Snow

So today, after about 10 inches of snow fell, I decided it was time for Trey to get out and enjoy snow for the first time ever.  Luckily for me, my sister accidentally left one of her kids snow pants up when she came to visit in December.  I put Trey in these size 4 pants and used hair ties to keep the bottom of the legs closed since his legs only went down to the knee region of the pants.  Ghetto but effective.

I plopped Trey in the snow and he didn't move a muscle.  He didn't try to play with the snow.  He didn't try to look around. He was very stoic lol.

The dog, having never had a friend in the snow, didn't know how to handle such an exciting time lol.  He barked like mad and tried to climb up the snow to get to Trey.

I moved Trey a little lower and Buckley quickly leaped on him.  Sniffing him and pulling at his hat and gloves lol.  It was as though he had NEVER seen Trey before in his life.

Trey in the mean time continued to be unsure how he felt about the snow.

And Buckley continued to circle and bark.

We only ended up staying outside for about 5 minutes if that.  But Trey did show happiness towards the dogs reaction so that was good.  As far as the snow was concerned, he could have cared less.

My little trouble maker.

Anyway now its almost 10 o'clock at night and we are waiting to be hit with our second round of snow.  It's sleeting right now and our lights keep flickering so we are crossing everything that the power doesn't go out (although I filled a bucket with water so we can flush if it does!).  If it does go out, there will definitely be a family slumber party in our bed … Trey and all !!!

Followed by a Fantastic Lil February

Shortly after we got out of the hospital, Trey became a full fledged crawler which was super exciting …

Well as of Super Bowl Sunday (2/2), we have a stander!  Cory and I were cooking in our kitchen with our back to Trey.  When I turned around, I was shocked to see Trey standing next to the kitchen table!  About two days later, Trey built up the courage to stand up on EVERYTHING.  Couches, tv stands, toys, people, Buckley (he's attempted a few times but Buckley isn't having it!), etc. It has been fun to watch him explore.

Another exciting development happened yesterday (2/9).  Trey finally started to babble!  He has been a quiet boy which had me a little concerned but since yesterday he has not stopped saying ba ba ba!  Sometimes he gets a little ma or da noise out so we are waiting on the edge of our seat for him to finally address us by our proper names!

I love seeing my little chunk of lamb develop.  It has been a pure blasty blast.  Welp off we go to his 9 month appointment.  Maybe the dr will have pointers on getting this kid to finally eat solids!
